Lauren S. Cardon is an Assistant Professor in the University of Alabama’s Department of English and the instructor of English 455-001, Advanced Studies in Writing. For this writing course, she selected the theme “Discourses of Food: Growing, Cooking, Consuming.” Dr. Cardon teaches courses in both writing and literature, and she is the author of the books The “White Other” in American Intermarriage Stories, 1945-2008 (Palgrave, 2012) and Fashion and Fiction: Self-Transformation in Twentieth-Century American Literature (University of Virginia Press, Forthcoming 2016).
